 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 17, 2010 The O’Dell Group Reaches Out to Show Community Support in Tustin. Highlights Commitment to the Tustin Unified School District and Tustin Western Little League
All third through fifth grade students in TUSD were invited to submit a 250 – 500 word essay describing their “Ultimate Summer Vacation.” Essays were judged not only on content but creativity, grammar, spelling and punctuation of the essay as well. Dean O’Dell, co-owner of The O’Dell Group commented, “I really enjoyed reading all the essays. All the entries were most expressive and very creative. We had everything from touring all the hot spots in Hawaii, jungle safaris, ATV Adventures, parasailing, zip lining and even a trip to Egypt while being chauffeured by a driver wearing an ascot.” Upon completion of the difficult job of judging each essay, the winners were notified on June 12, 2010. $250 cash was awarded to the first place winner, Lauren Benedict. The second place winner of $100 cash was Katy Oh, and the third place prize of $50 cash went to Alice Bodell. The O’Dell Group continued its commitment to the neighborhood youth by sponsoring Tustin Western Little League’s (TWLL) Skills Contest at the TWLL fields on June 12, 2010. Each league team from the Minor A, Minor AA, Minor AAA and Major divisions provided a player representative to compete in three contests: the ‘King of Swat’ Home Run contest, The ‘Sniper Most Accurate Throws To The Plate’ contest, and the ‘Roadrunner Fastest Time Around The Bases’ contest. The O’Dell Group awarded cash prizes to all first place winners in each of the four divisions. TWLL League President Mike Peterman commented, “It was great to have the O’Dell Group sponsor our Skills Contest this year. The kids were extraordinarily motivated with the cash prizes and their generosity was much appreciated.” Through shared commitment with our community partners, The O’Dell Group believes it can achieve uncommon things together.
